Meet Senior Leadership
Chief Executive Officer
Martin Padgett joined Clark Memorial Hospital in 1997 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2005, bringing with him more than 24 years of experience in healthcare finance and administration. Prior to joining Clark Memorial’s leadership team, Padgett served as Director of Finance at St. Claire Medical Center and as a senior accountant at Ernst & Young, LLP.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Padgett holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Business Administration degree from Morehead State University. Padgett holds a CPA certification, is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, an adjunct professor at Spalding University, a co-chair for the Patient Safety Coalition-South Central District, and serves on numerous local boards, including YMCA of Southern Indiana and Ivy Tech Community College.
Chief Financial Officer
Jason joined the Clark Memorial leadership team in 2017, and most recently was the CFO at LifePoint Health's Tennova-Turkey Creek in Knoxville, TN.
Jason is a CPA and earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Wofford College and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He began his career as a Senior Medicaid Auditor at South Carolina's State Auditor's office from 1998 through 2004. He took the role of Healthcare Auditor and Reimbursement Manager for the accounting firm Dean, Dorton & Ford in 2004. His experience at the accounting firm opened up the opportunity to begin his career with Lifepoint Hospital Corporate in Brentwood, TN as a Reimbursement Manager. He was promoted to CFO at Logan Memorial Hospital in June 2010 and in August 2012, Jason was transferred to the 175-bed Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands VA.
Chief Nursing Officer
Kathy Neuner joined Clark Memorial Hospital in 1996 as the Orthopedic Service Line Director, has served as Vice President of Inpatient Clinical Services since 1998, and was appointed Chief Nursing Officer in 2011. Kathy began her career at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Ky., as a medical surgical nurse and, throughout her career she continued to take on additional responsibilities along the leadership track.
A native of Louisville, Ky., Neuner graduated from Norton Memorial Infirmary, Louisville, KY in 1976 with a diploma as a registered nurse. Kathy received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1986 from Bellarmine University, Louisville, Ky., and a Master of Science degree in nursing in 2002. In 2013, Kathy achieved her Nurse Executive, Advanced Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. Kathy is active on several local university advisory boards and serves on the Planning & Governance Board for Hosparus.
Chief Operating Officer
Ruth Schmidt joined Clark Memorial Hospital in 1998 as Director of Surgical Services and has served as Vice President of Outpatient Clinical Services since 1999. Schmidt began her career at Jewish Hospital as a staff nurse before proceeding to a number of leadership roles including Director of Surgical Services and as nurse manager in the Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery Center.
A native of New Albany, Ind., Schmidt earned an associate degree in nursing in 1980 from Indiana University Southeast, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1988 from University of the State of New York and is currently completing a Master of Business Communication degree at Spalding University. She maintains her certification in Perioperative Nursing, is a member of the Association for Operating Room Nurses, serves on the Indiana Hospital Association Council on Workforce Development and as board member and past board chair for the YMCA of Southern Indiana.
William Templeton, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
William Templeton, M.D. joined Clark Memorial Hospital as Medical Director in 2008. From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Templeton served in a number of physician, quality and infection control advisory roles for many area hospitals, including Clark Memorial Hospital, Hardin Memorial Hospital, Baptist Hospital East and Baptist Hospital Northeast. Dr. Templeton maintained a private practice in Infectious Diseases/Internal Medicine in Louisville, Ky. from 1982 to 2002.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Dr. Templeton earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and completed his medical education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and his postgraduate training at the University of Miami School of Medicine and the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Templeton is a member of the American College of Medical Quality, Association for Practitioners in Infection Control and the American Association for Physician Leadership.
